TROY DINKEL

-Why do you CrossFit?

  • I prefer a structured, efficient, varied exercise routine. My life is very busy, and I daydream too much when I’m exhausted and by myself at the gym.

-Why do you choose CrossFit St. Louis?

  • The coworker (Kristian Marquez) who originally introduced me to CrossFit in 2011 told me that we needed to drop-in to CrossFit St. Louis during a business trip to St. Louis. We would always look for a good box as we traveled frequently with that job. He was impressed by Crossfit St. Louis for several reasons including a recent visit by Dave Castro.
  • Total Access Urgent Care has made St. Louis our home. I’ve never left Crossfit STL, because I love my Crossfit family here and because the trainers are top-notch. I also like the 7-day a week class options and variety, which are only operationally sustainable with a larger box.

-What do you want to accomplish in CrossFit?

  • I want to remain fit so that I can participate in family activities and live a long, happy, independent life.

-What is your favorite movement and why?

  • That’s a tough one. I am going to say double-unders right now because we did the 1776 WOD this morning, and I was able to contribute sets of 100 to my team’s effort. I couldn’t do a single double under for several years.

-What are your hobbies?

  • Work, Crossfit, Travel

-Why do you CrossFit?

I CF to stay healthy, mobile and strong.  I can enjoy traveling with my family and have no issues getting around and carrying heavy luggage.  This trip I did not need help carrying my 45# suitcase up 2 flights of stairs to our third floor room.

-Why do you choose CrossFit St. Louis?

I have been a member since 2006, and enjoy my fellow crossfitters, and appreciate our awesome coaches.

I especially appreciated their patience and concern the last several weeks with my broken toe.  They helped me stay active during that time.

-What do you want to accomplish in CrossFit?

My biggest goal this year was to make sure I get to the gym 4-5 times a week, and push myself as much as I can. My goal each day is to make sure I did my best and can show up tomorrow.

I think this strategy has paid off, last year during the open I could not do more than 6-8 toes to bar in a workout.  This year I could easily do multiple sets of 8, surprising myself.

-What is your favorite movement and why?

Burpees 🙂  I can do lots of burpees.

-What are your hobbies?

Watching my son Ian play lacrosse, watching my daughter Emma play cello, traveling, cooking, reading.
